How much does a certified translation for USCIS cost?

Checked , based on ecfr.gov (opens in a new tab)

Most online services charge $20–40 for a page of a certified translation for USCIS; a birth or marriage certificate is usually one page. We checked the published prices of eight services on their own sites on October 23, 2026. The total depends on what counts as a page and on the extras: rush, notarization, a paper copy by mail. Our price is $25 for the first page and $20 for each additional one.

We checked each price on the service’s own website on October 23, 2026, not on review sites. Prices change; the links lead to the pages we read.

What counts as a page

The same certificate can cost different amounts, because services count pages in different ways:

  • up to 250 words (RushTranslate, Rapid Translate, U.S. Language Services; our page is up to 250 words): a one-page certificate is one page, a longer document counts as one page for every 250 words;
  • one side of a document (Official Translations): a certificate with a stamp on the back is two pages;
  • one photo or file (CertMyTranslation);
  • a document (DocTranslation, for the documents it lists).

Before ordering, send photos of your documents and ask for the total, not the price per page.

Extras: rush, notary, paper copy

  • Rush. Most services charge for faster delivery, from +$5 to +50% a page. Our regular turnaround is 24 hours; within 12 hours it is +$15 a page, within 3 hours +$30 a page, and we confirm it before you pay. See same-day translation.
  • Notarization. USCIS doesn’t ask for it: its rule is a full translation with the translator’s certification that it is complete and accurate and that the translator is competent to translate (8 CFR 103.2(b)(3) (opens in a new tab)). Services sell notarization for $10–40. We don’t offer it; see What USCIS accepts.
  • Paper copy. A copy signed in ink and sent by mail costs $10–30 at most services; ours is $20 a shipment. The PDF by email is included in the price.

What three typical orders cost with us

  • a one-page birth certificate: $25;
  • a passport page and a birth certificate for a green card: $45;
  • a marriage certificate and two children’s birth certificates: $65.

A large order costs less per page: from page 51 of one order a page is $17, from page 151 it is $15. 100 pages are $1,855, 200 pages $3,455, 300 pages $4,955.

There is no extra charge for stamps, handwriting or weekends.

What else to compare

  • Who translates. Machine translation reviewed only where a system flags a problem is not the same as a person translating every line.
  • Stamps and handwriting. USCIS asks for a full translation: every stamp, seal and handwritten line, not a summary.
  • Names. Ask whether names will be spelled as in your international passport and the same way across all documents.
  • Corrections. Ask what happens if an agency raises an issue with the translation. We fix it for free.

Questions

How much does a birth certificate translation for USCIS cost?

A birth certificate is usually one page. Online services list $20–40 for it; ours is $25. Some services count one side of a document as a page, so a two-sided certificate can cost twice as much.

Do I have to pay for a notary?

Not for USCIS. It asks for the translator’s signed certification that the translation is complete and accurate and that the translator is competent to translate. Some services sell notarization for $10–40; we don’t offer it, because USCIS doesn’t require it.

How much does it cost to translate a passport and a birth certificate for a green card?

With us, two one-page documents are $45. A passport with stamps on several pages is priced by the number of pages you send.

How much does it cost to translate 100 pages?

With us, $1,855. From page 51 of one order a page is $17, from page 151 $15, and we count the whole order even if you send it in parts. 200 pages are $3,455, 300 pages $4,955.

Why are some services much cheaper?

Usually because of how the work is done: some run the document through machine translation first and have a person review only what the system flags. Check who translates, what the certification says and whether stamps and handwriting are translated in full.
