How do you translate a Russian receipt, email or spreadsheet for USCIS?

Checked , based on ecfr.gov (opens in a new tab)

Any foreign-language document filed with USCIS must come with a full English translation and the translator’s certification. We make certified translations of a Russian receipt from a bank app, an email, a calendar invitation or a spreadsheet, with the amounts, dates, buttons and everything else on the screen. We charge by the page: $25 for the first page and $20 for each additional one. Send screenshots or files, and we’ll give you the price and the delivery date.

What the translation includes

We translate every screenshot or file in full, as USCIS requires (8 CFR 103.2(b)(3) (opens in a new tab)). A summary doesn’t count (USCIS Policy Manual (opens in a new tab)). The translation has:

  • a bank app receipt: the payment status, the amount, the payee, the payment type, the receipt number, the date and time, the address, the payer, the account it was paid from and the buttons;
  • an email: the sender, the subject, the date and time, the full text, the booking code, the flight number, the departure and arrival times, pop-ups and the phone’s status bar;
  • a calendar invitation: the event title, the date and time, the repeat setting, the place, the link and phone number to join, the reminder, the guests and their responses;
  • a spreadsheet: the menus and toolbar, the formula bar, column letters and row numbers, every filled cell, and charts in words and figures in square brackets, such as [Bar chart:].

The translation starts on a new page after the original. The translation opens with a note on what the square brackets mean.

We translate an account statement, with its list of transactions and balance, separately: Bank statement translation.

Amounts, dates and names

Amounts, currencies and dates stay as they are in the document; we don’t convert amounts to dollars. We translate buttons and menu items, so it’s clear what’s on the screen. If a word can’t be read, the translation marks it [illegible] instead of guessing.

We spell names as they appear in your international passport. Include the spelling in your request, and we’ll use it in every document in your order.

Where USCIS rules mention such documents

In the Form I-130 instructions for a marriage petition, among the documents that may prove a bona fide marriage, USCIS names documentation showing that you and your spouse have combined your financial resources (Form I-130 instructions (opens in a new tab)). For a fiancé(e) visa on Form I-129F, evidence that you met in person within the two years before you file the petition may include a copy of airline tickets, passport pages or other evidence (Form I-129F instructions (opens in a new tab)).

Documents usually translated for these petitions are covered in our guides to Form I-130 and the K-1 fiancé(e) visa.

Whether your documents fit your case is for you or your attorney to decide.

Questions

How much does it cost?

We charge by the page: $25 for the first page and $20 for each additional one, so three one-page receipts are $65. Send the screenshots, and we’ll give you the exact price.

Will you convert the amounts to dollars?

No. We give amounts as they appear in the document: in the same currency and with the same figures.

Do I need a notary?

USCIS and immigration court rules don’t require one: they ask for the translator’s signed certificate, and it’s included.

How long does it take?

1–4 documents: within 24 hours after payment; faster, within 12 hours (+$15 a page) or 3 hours (+$30 a page, paid between 8 am and 6 pm Pacific time). For 5 or more, we give you the date with the quote.

Will USCIS accept the translation?

No one can promise that an agency will accept a document. We follow its rules to the letter, and if an agency raises an issue with our translation, we fix it for free.
